OUR HISTORY

McFarlan Home, a non-profit residence for women over 60 years of age, is licensed by the State of Michigan for 29 women. Each resident has her own large bedroom or suite and is free to go about her daily activities completely as she pleases (with or without assistance).

McFarlan Home was created in 1925 based on the vision of Mrs. Mary McFarlan Whaley. She specified in her will that upon her death a trust would be created “for the purpose of providing and maintaining a home for elderly ladies.” This home was to be called “The McFarlan Home” in memory of her parents.

The home is operated by a private foundation. This allows us to charge lower rates than comparable facilities in Genesee County.
